Job Title :Senior Support Worker
Qualification:
At least 3 years experience working with people with learning disabilities in day centre, supported living or in outreach Desire to acquire qualification in health and social care.
Salary: £13.03/hr
Work hours: 37.5hrs per week
Main responsibility:
Providing front-line support, acting as a link between the manger and support staff, helping to ensure high standards of care are delivered consistently.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Resilience and ability to support staff’s confidence and skills in working with people with complex challenging behaviour.
- Oversee a team of support workers, offering guidance, on-site coaching, and mentoring, especially for new starters
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the service, which can include ensuring staff rotas are fully covered and handling petty cash or other finances.
- Ensure that all records, including client files, daily notes, and incident reports, are accurately and comprehensively maintained.
- Acting as a role model promoting good practice and set a positive example for all junior staff.
- Developing stimulating visual communication tools for people with learning disabilities and work closely with activity coordinators the day service/key workers in the supported accommodation and outreach to ensure clients are receiving quality support.
- Developing calendar of meaningful activities for people with learning disabilities with activity or key workers.
- Providing guidance and supervision of staff ensuring cover and provision of quality support.
- Admitting new clients to the service, completing assessments, risk assessments and support plans for clients and sharing with staff.
- Monitoring documentation and incident forms and keeping record for RM.
- Holding monthly team meetings with rest of the team updating them on developments and policy/procedure changes.
- Carrying out spot checks and updating line manager.
- Identifying information for risk assessments with professionals, main carers and staff and update clients’ care plans.
- Completing/ensuring the ABC charts are accurate and followed through with appropriate strategies to ensure minimisation of re-occurrence.
- Ensuring health and safety at work for staff and clients and keeping records.
Requirements:
- IT skills and good communication skills
- UK Class 4 Driving Licence
- Excellent English communication
